ZEN-SHIATSU or also known as Meridian Shiatsu(stimulation on deep-tissue/acupressure points) was developed from traditional Shiatsu in 60's through 70's based on Oriental medicine philosophy. Originally, incorporated with Hatha Yoga, Thai massage and Pilates movements. Intended to cater for dancers, designers and artists or those who use their body, brain, hands and legs and feet in the equal amount as their emotions.
"ZEN" is to empty mind and forget body or discomfort.
My ZEN-SHIATSU is all about the slow/quiet movements and the gentle but deep therapeutic touch. It is much more gentle than traditional Shiatsu and should never be painful. It will melt your mind as your tension and knots are loosened and leads you to a deep relaxation state. Many people fall asleep for some minutes very deeply and when awaken, feel a lot lighter.
Instead of using fingers, I often use my palms, and as you breathe, slowly apply pressure to acupressure points according to the flow of each meridian(energy path corresponding to different emotions/organs).
It is calm, deeply relaxing and very very therapeutic(especially when combined with Reiki).
